Arianaâs first single, âPut Your Hearts Upâ, was recorded swiftly and was released in time for Christmas. Ariana was delighted with the 1960s sound and the message of the song.
âItâs a song that I hope inspires people to open their hearts up,â she said, âand realise that even the smallest acts of kindness can make the world a better place.â
Making the video for âPut Your Hearts Upâ was like making her own mini movie.
âOoh, I feel so nervous,â admitted Ariana to her mother. âItâs just me in front of the camera â I miss my Victorious gang!â
âYouâll be wonderful, Ari,â Joan reassured her daughter, who was wearing a glorious pink dress and looked sensational despite her nerves.
âThereâs no one to have a laugh with,â she explained. âI hope I can do it.â
Ariana didnât need to worry; she was a natural. From the opening scene, where she released a cartoon butterfly, to the bridge scene, which reminded her of her favourite classic movies, she looked happy and carefree. The video was like a fantasy world and Ariana felt like Audrey Hepburn twirling through a dream!
Ariana didnât forget her fans in all of this. She posted four possible covers for the single on her Twitter account and the fans voted for their favourite. This was new territory for the record company, but for Ariana this relationship with her fans through social media was as easy as 1-2-3.
âPut your Hearts Upâ didnât make number one in the charts. In fact, it didnât make the charts, but Arianaâs career as a recording artist had started.
At the age of eighteen, life was pulling Ariana in many directions. Her heart was bursting with joy, because she was making records and starring in gorgeous videos. However, she loved being on the set of Victorious with her gang of co-stars. In only a few years, Arianaâs life had transformed. What would be next?
